Is it possible to get control of my wife's prescriptions, only to insure that she only take the amounts prescribed? I need to be able to know when she gets a new prescription filled and then take control of the bottle to only give the amount prescribed by her doctor (she abuses several of her prescribed medicines).

Not in the slightest, unless you can prove that she's incompetent. The same as you could not prevent her from drinking a liter of vodka every night if she chose to do so.

You CAN make a call to the prescribing physician though, and tell him/her of your concerns. Expect them to tell you nothing in return.
