Georgia Law is similar to the state of Florida:

It is a misdemeanor to carry any amount of marijuana on your person or within a reasonable distance where it can be presumed to be yours. Less then 1 ounce of marijuana is a misdemeanor. But BE WARNED it can easily be turned into a felony, even with less then an ounce on your person. If an officer finds any reason to believe you intended to distributed or sell any drugs it can be bumped to a felony. Having multiple packets on you can also be consider intent to sell, so be careful. If you intend to grow a small amount you will it will automatically make it a felony and could face serious time in jail.
