Long wait for a court date

I live in New York, In october of 93 i got a speeding ticket for 49 in a 35. It is now August 2004 and i Have yet to recieve a court date. The ticket was mailed in and i know they have it because last december i called them and verified that they did recieve my plea of not guilty. I know my licence is not suspended because I was just at the dmv and renewed it. Is there a statute of limitations on how long i have to wait for a court date?

Speedy Trial in New York

I had heard that New York was taking a long time to bring speeding tickets to trial but you take the prize.

Actually there is no statute of limitations and the speedy trial does not go into effect until your are arraigned. As a pratical matter I doubt that the officer is even still on the force and there will be no testimony even if it does come up.

Make a record of who you talked to and when in case this does come back to haunt you.
