liability for wifes tax debt

I am marrying a woman who owes money to the IRS. Can they hold me liable and take my assets for her debt?

As long as you do not co-mingle assets you are ok. If they find her making money that is paid to you, or you buy something together or have joint checking accounts they can be garnished.
