I recently bought a 2000 Dodge Durango from a private sale. After 30 days the SUV started making noise and I lost oil Pressure. The mechanic said it may need major work on the engine. He has to drop the pan to be sure. If he says that this has been an ongoing problem and the seller used a temporary fix just to sell the car, am I entitled to get my money back or at least the amount of repairs? The receipt of sale does not say "as is".
    Thanks, Rock

Most states do not have a used car lemon law. NY does and possibly a few more do, you'll have to google your states laws, if there are any. In most cases, cars are sold as is. If you did not have a mechanic inspect it, you are probably out of luck. You have the burden of proving the seller sold you the car and knew about the defects.

Buying a 7 year old used car is a risk. You can try to sue but you probably have an uphill battle in court. the buyer does not have to answer your calls.
