left with no options to get my kid to school

If you don't live far enough to be picked up by bus then you must be close enough to walk. How old is your child? Why not just walk to school, leaving at a time that ensures the campus is open on arrival?
Some schools don't let kids under a certain age walk alone or get on the bus alone. Where I am, kids have to be waiting for the bus with someone at least 12 or older and if under 12 cannot walk to school alone.

It is silly to think the school will change its hours just for you! Your easiest and least expensive options are friends, family, neighbors etc to care for your child during this brief time window you need to get your child to school.

That sounds like rules meant to be broken. The school has no say in whether a student is allowed to walk to school alone or wait for the bus alone. That is entirely up to parents.

They do when you live on a military base...

A child under age 12 must be under the supervision of an adult even when playing in their fenced in backyard on Fort Hood.

Parents or adults can be seen escorting children to and from school busses daily.

You've never lived until you've resided in quarters on a military base, especially on a German kaserne.

My older brother will attest that living on base was far more loosey goosey - even at Fort Knox - than his time in an HOA. At least the military rules make sense...

I agree with that 100%.

The military has restrictions and rules that make sense, at least it did, until some people did some experimenting and social engineering using our military.

The military is resilient, as are those who serve, so it survived the idiots.

The military has always been one big social engineering experiment since it started. You take people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all cultures, ethnicities, etc. Throw them together and expect them to work together. There's literally no bigger social experiment anywhere in the world than the US military - which has usually been ahead of the civilian world such as integrating women, integrating black people, removing DADT, etc.

Since this particular OP is not in the military, what happens in the military is irrelevant to this thread.

Oh geez...someone said that schools can't dictate whether a child walks alone or not to school when they can after I made my post saying rules like that are meant to be broken. I would bet there could be some civilian schools who have a rule like that for safety sake. Nothing is impossible.
