landlord harrasses us

My husband son and I moved into a house we are renting on april 2006. We paid april and may on time then in june we were one week late due to our bank. Then in July now as of last month we could pay on the 15th the landlord told us. He is getting so freaked out and ridiculous that he called us every day from the 10th 2 or 3 times a day, and called our bank and called my husbands boss about 8 times, because he was on vacation. Now his boss is pissed, and we feel he has no right to do this, Even though we are late we still paid. Can he do this to us we are sooo upset we dont know what to do. Also we have a 1 yr lease and the lease states after 10 days of non payment he can bother us or something along those lines. Can anyone help?
