Landlord charges for couch cleaning!

I guaranteed a lease for my daughter. Furnished apartment, no security deposit. She moved out and the landlord claims the couch needed to be cleaned and she owes $190. My daughter maintains the couch needed cleaning prior to her moving in (she was only there 4 months) and I agree with her (I've been there many times and have sat on the couch). The landlord says she has until the end of the month to pay or it will go to collections, potentially damaging her and my credit. Since I have very good credit, I want to avoid collections (just what the landlord hopes!). Is there any claim we could make against the landlord prior to this going to collections? Thank you!
