Can a newspaper publish the name of a child involved in a police investigation withot parental consent?

The newspaper can publish pretty much what they want. Depending on the situation, law enforcement MAY not have been permitted to release the name, but if the reporter got the name from some other source or by just being there, then there is little that can be done.

I am not aware of any state that has a law preventing the name of a minor being printed in the news without the parents' permission.
