My husband was released from his job recently. Another employee accused him of taking money from her purse. There was no proof, however, he was dismissed. As part of his dismissal, it was agreed that nothing would be said to any other employees, a good job reference would be given, his leaving would be explained as job liquidatin and all that was said would remain among his two supervisors and him and myself. Several weeks later, a friend told him that another employee was stating in a bar that he was fired for stealing. Later, at a local club (where my husband is a trusted member) another person told him that this employee was telling everyone he was stealing. His reputation has been damaged and it is causing stress in our marriage.
