Our previous apartment's lease ended as of 10/26/16 after 2.5 years of living in the same unit. We received a bill in the mail today for $967.12 for "Move out damges- Carpet/pad" and this is after using our $150 security deposit. My question is this - from my understanding, we can not be charged for replacement of carpet due to normal wear and tear. The carpet was not replaced even prior to my husband moving in 2.5 years ago and was already worn. They even told my husband that they had only cleaned the apartment. Can we legally be responsible for this?
