On February 4, 2006 the person I was dating gave me a hp laptop for an early Valentines present. At the time we live in seperate homes in different states. On November 6, 2006 she moved to AZ and into my house. On May 28, 2007 we have a verbal fight and she decides she is moving out, which was fine with me, and while packing her things she took the laptop and some other things of mine. Before she left the house I relized what she had done and asked for the laptop back, since it now holds most of my life for the last 15 months, but instead of giving to me she replied " I bought it for you and I am taking it back". I have the box, the receipt and it is registered under my name. She also took some other property as well including pictures of my daughter in her cap and gown.

My questions is: Can I take her to small claims court to get the laptop back? Or is she correct that since she bought it she can take it back if she wants?
