im not sure if this is the correct place to pose this question. if i am due a inheritance a certain amount of money and i owe on a defaulted federal student loan. can the fed government take a portion or all of my inheritance to pay off the debt. thanks for any help or suggestions

While Army is right that they will if they know about it, the Federal Government does not handle inheritance funds. If there is an outstanding judgment against you the money may be attached. I suppose you are asking because you don't want to pay the money you owe?
