I was sentenced to 9 years of probation by the courts, but the max I could legally be sentenced to was 3 years. The Department of Corrections automatically corrected this on their own without a court order. Eight months into serving this probationary sentence I received a technical violation without a new charge. Since my original sentence was an illegal sentence, what grounds do I have to dispute the fact that I violated an illegal court order in the first place. It seems like none of the attorneys in this area want to make that many waves within the court system and I could really use some advice since I will probably be representing myself and have a fool for a client, or I will be represented by a public defender who will not be able to think for him or herself. My arraignment is October 12.

I'm not sure that you have a case. The length of the probationary period was too long but it does not necessarily mean that it was completely invalid, only invalid as to the additional 6 years.
