Ok, here's the scenario, I have taken a lot of crap over the years from a millionaire I've worked with and recently I've finally gotten fed up with his shady business practices and giving me the shaft and decided to look in to taking legal action.
I have worked with the guy for many years. He's now worth over 30 million, some of it due to my hard work over the years. Maybe I'm stupid and gullible but I have never really gotten much from him but I've kept working on projects with him and believing his word hoping one day I'd get my chance.
The original company I founded with him as a partner is now worth over 5 million dollars (a huge successful website) which he's since moved the owner ship of to another off shore company of his. A lot of my own idea's went in to the original success of this website and I was very depressed when I was forced out of the business.
Not only did he force me out of the business I helped create but made me do everything he asked under threat of a) financial burden b) having me put in jail, and c) death (he's suggested that with his money it would be very easy to just hire a hit man to take care of me). He made me leave my home and move to another state, sever contact with friends (who were also employee's I had hired when I was running the company) and forced me to sign very strict non-compete agreements in the only industry I knew. For this 5 million dollar company I was given 50k in severance and I had expressed how unhappy I was with such a crappy deal but felt I had no choice but to accept it.
How was I so easily taken advantage of you might wonder, well I trusted him and his promises and always believed I would get everything in writing eventually as promised but he's a good salesmen and always convinced me that it was not necessary at the time. He always apologized later and offered me some crap work to make a little money to pay some of my bills so I have kept silent and not looked in to legal action. I know where all the skeletons are hidden and he's actually famous for his shady business practices, he even has a class action suit against of one his companys now.
Most recently I was doing some work for his company, managing and selling the ad space for the site I had originally created. I worked for over a month and when I had not gotten the contract which I was promised in regard to our arrangement I emailed saying that I needed it and could no longer continue working until I had this contract which I was promised. I decided not to take the word of him or his company any more.
Shortly after sending that email I was sent a reply by the President of his company saying my services were no longer needed and I would not receive any compensation for the month of work I had done.
This for me was the final straw, I no longer care about the threats or this person. I have decided I would like to take what ever legal action possible against this person and I am seeking advice on the best way to proceed. I do not have much money but I am willing to go the distance pay a lawyer big money in the end if he manages to stick it to him. I will dedicate my life to making sure he pays for all the bad stuff he's done to me over the years until he's been punished.
Any advice is appreciated, and PM's are welcome as well, thanks!
