I very stupidly took 2 items worth $10 together from a store, about 2 hours later cops showed up looking for me at my home, I wasn't home so I met with them at a gas station, I admitted guilty and gave what I took to the cop. I got a ticket and a court date. This is my first and LAST time doing something stupid and unnecessary like this. What do I I say or do in court? I already admitted guilty to the cop and like I said I gave the items back to him. This is my first time do I pleat guilty in court and deal with the consequences or hire an attorney?

    Thank you.

I am a retail theft consultant and answers questions like yours daily. NO do not just walk into court and plead guilty! Plead not guilty get a new court date and either request a public defender or hire a Lawyer. When you talk to this Lawyer ask about your defense options and possible plea deals. Be sure to ask about ACD or Diversion as well
