I am from India and I am on H1B visa here in US and my I-140 is approved. I did not register my marriage, so I don't have my marriage certificate now. My priority date is still not current. But I want to be proactive and make ready all documents ready for I-485.

So I would like to know what is the alternative for marriage certificate that I can provide? Please advise.

There is no alternative to an original (or certified copy under seal) marriage certificate acceptable to US immigration authorities.
Be advised, if your marriage certificate was issued in a language other than English you'll need the original (or copy issued under court or recorder's seal) as well as a translated version (an apostille).

What is an apostille?
An apostille is a form of certification for documents that are for use in countries in the Hague Convention. The apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the person signing the document is serving, and identifies the seal/stamp, which the document bears.

You should direct these and all questions to your immigration attorney or the US immigration authorities.
