I was caught and charged with shoplifting and wondered if the store manager has the ability to drop the charges. I thought about calling him and seeing if I could make restitution on my own on behalf of the store. Maybe a charitable donation, volunteer work etc.

If charges have already been filed no. It would be DA who would have to drop charges. If your seeking to protect your record then ask your Attorney about Diversion as plea option
