Accident occurred in New Jersey -
This morning I was the vicitm of a hit and run involving a tractor trailer. I was not injured, however my car was not drivable. I was not able to obtain any license number or truck information. I carry the state minimum insurance and therefore do not have collision insurance. I was told by my insurance company that they will not cover any damages. I do have uninsured motorist med/property coverage, but the company (progressive) stated that they cannot apply the uninsured motorist coverage in this case. Is this in line with New Jersey law? Do I have any recourse or am I just out of luck. Thanks in advance.
