I brushed up against an unoccupied cars bumper in a parking lot, I didn't see any damage, so I went inside the store, my truck had been involved in an accident previously and was scheduled to be fixed. Whoever called the police must have seen the damage to my truck and thought I must had done damage to the other vehicle. When I came out of the store I walked back to the other vehicle to make sure there was no damage and a policeman was waiting for me. He said I should have left a note even if I didn't see any damage I told him I would have left a note if I had done damage but I didn't see any damage. He cited me for hit and run because I didn't leave a note. I never left the premises and I went back outside to check, I gave my information on insurance and contact information. The next day I called the owners of the vehicle to see if we could settle without going thru insurance, but they wanted to talk to their insurance company. I am fighting the ticket what are my chances?
