Hi My husband and I filed for bankruptcy in 2005 . I was having trouble with a collection agency so I had my lawyer send them a letter several months ago. well they have not bothered me since untill today. I checked my credit report the other day and an account i had with them was still showings as not satisfied so I disputed and checked on it today and it said it had been updated.So i called the collection agency today and the lady told me that the letter they recieved from my lawyer only had my husbands name on it so I was still responsible for all the accounts I had with them. Can they do that? If not can I sue them? thank you
