I came to the US in 2011 with a J1 visa.
I was arrested in November of 2012 for shoplifting at (dept. store). The case was dismissed after 6 months of probation under the Accelerated Rehabilitation Program. I have not gone back to mu country ever since then, but my J1 visa is going to expire next may. I want to go back to my country in April and apply for a F1 visa. Would the fact that I was arrested affect whether I get my visa or not? even if the case was dismissed?
If so, is there anything to do?
