My husband is a sole proprietor and owns his own tractor trailer. He is leased to a company that gives him a w2 and 1099 every year. He ws involved in an accident, Geico was the other person's insurer and claimed all reponsibility. The truck has been fixed and they paid. They were told and agreed to "down time" pay. They required proof of income. They were given 2005 and 2006 w2's and 1099's. He works about 335 days a year. he was off for 24 days so we submitted a bill and the proof of income. Now they want our Federal tax Schedule C for both years. May question is..do we have to give it? What difference does it make how the monies are dispersed after it is earned?
