I was caught taking a pair of shoes, $65 and bared from the store. I am not sure what I was thinking, but this is the first time I have ever done anything this stupid. I have a court date in mid sept and a free consultation a week beforehand. does anybody know what the punishment will be and is there any plea bargain i can take, without having to go to court so this will just go away quickly.

what exactly is that? and what kind of fees am i looking at? i offered the store to pay for the shoes but he refused

Diversion programs (not available everywhere) vary so there is no cookie cutter answer. If I had to explain it I would explain it like this.

Diversion works like a conviction with fines, community service, probation etc etc. Only once you successfully complete program your case is dismissed. Which means no criminal record. If you want to help your case I also suggest you enroll and complete the NASP www.shoplifting prevention.org program. Take that letter to court with you. Read the second link in my signature line. There you will see what happened to one RTA user who did just that.

to add to Norman's post. I ask users to reframe from posting certain info. We also offer ask users to use caution in giving out certain info and to whom you giv eit to. However if you note norma has the status of "trusted member" you can tell by his usernames dark blue color. This means that RTA has deemed user as a "trusted member" so sharing info with this user is "safe" in our view. So feel safe in sending norman a PM with any info he requests
