Finding a death record!

The county has planned to buy our property. Everything is almost set except when doing a title search a name came up as having survivorship rights...! The person named passed away in the late 70's. She was my Grandfather's lady friend and she died much before him. I have no idea where she died or when. Gramps died in 1991 and he was 96 yrs. She died almost twenty years before him. Can you give me direction on how to find the dead person? The county wants to make sure she is dead. Thanks

Death records are public records so your search will be easy to some degree. Try the county in which she last lived contact any relatives. Even if she wasnt at last known address finding her should not take long. At the very extreme you can hire a private investigator
