My husband and I are in the process of trying to get a friend of our son that is in the DCS system to be able to come over on weekends. This requires a background check from DCS. While completeing this check, we found that in 1998 my husbands ex-wife filed a child neglect charge against my husband. We never heard ANYTHING about this. And the charge was apparently substantiated. I don't understand how this could happen. 1. The child was not in our custody. 2. We were never interviewed, questioned, visited, or anything. 3. At that time, we had two young children at home and if the charges were substantiated then why was the welfare of those children not investigated.
I'm so confused and hurt. I have been with my husband for 18 years and know this did not happen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
