fail to yeild

I was hit turning onto the highway. I didnt see the car coming when i pulled away from the stop sign i was sitting at. I believe the other car was speeding (it was a 45 zone and they came flying at me). My parents car was totaled(i only have a permit). I was given a failure to yield to highway. The trooper told me i could mail in a payment (It happened about an hour away from my home). Anyways, my questions are: Should I get a lawyer for this (I have received a lot of ads from injury lawyers, but no traffic attorneys)-not that i have lots of money to fight this, but if it is going to add a lot of points to my insurance and I could do anything about that, I would like to. Also, I'm on probation for poss of paraphenalia I didn't think it would, but this wouldn't affect that would it? Thanks.
