I was named one of 12 benefeiciaies for my late uncle who passed away and resided in florida. I live in NY. The executor is my other uncle who lives in florida but i have not spoken to since i was a little boy. There was a rift between him and my mother which subsequently resulted in no contact with him. Ironically enough this rift was created over my late grandmother's will some 20 years earlier. My question is that he is executor and i fear that during the process he may be short changing me, my mother and my sister. So far I have receievd aproximately 25,000 from sale of property and some IRA 's. My late Uncle had a property in Las Vegas and after sale of property check I receieved seemed much less than expected. Which also got me wondering perhaps there are some things that are being divided without my knowlkedge? He said there were bills that were paid when my mother questioned him. but we never got documentation of these. Also the extate lawyer in florida does not like to disclose this information to me and never returns phone calls when i inquire about the rest of the estate which still has a florida condo and a TD Waterhouse account and who knows what else . What rights do I have to know exactly how much there is and how it is being divided? The will stated all assets to be divided evenly among the 12 blood relatives of his all of which are named. Do i need to hire a probate lawyer in florida to investigate the total value of the estate and its proper disbursment? I never receievd anything that stated all of the deceased's assets. I just fear that the executor and the bad blood from the past and the distance me being in new york that he can get away with ouright thievery or at the least some shady skimming . What do i do? Thanks
