I leased a car in October 2013 and signed an agreement for a certain amount. The statement I got from the finance company is $0.12 over the amount on the lease. The finance company told me to go back to the dealer. Am I legally responsible to pay the higher amount?

I suggest you just pay it. If you don't, you could find your lease getting cancelled because you owe $1.44 over the past year.
Or, worse yet, they DING your credit for payment deficiencies.

Is it legal?

Wait until you get sued, then come back and tell us.

Frankly, no one much cares.
