So here is my friend's situation, first, he is so stupid for all of this, over the past year he has been swiping things from his employer. It has totalled over $12000. A few nights ago he was caught taking something. LP and a manager escourted him to the office and questioned him. they said that had all kinds of info on him. He panicked and confessed to whatever he could. he thought they didnt have ALL the individual things but Most of them. he, stupidly, signed a paper saying what he took. They gave him an option to return all of the merchandice or the money to pay it back, but only 2 days to do so. He said he would do his best at what he could. they then called the police and had him charged with the item that he had taken that night, valued at $300. A misdemenor and he escourted them and the officer to his car to give the item back. he was then taken to jail, and after several hours released on his on valition with a court date. This was his first and only offense. He has a court date. He then went out and hired a lawyer to figure out what he should due. He told the lawyer everything. The lawyer wanted him to try and get any money he could to repay what he took, but he could only come up with about 2k. The time to return everything to the store came and went. The lawyer contacted the employer to work out a way to pay them back in a more realistic maner. Mt friend has a court order not to have ANY contact with the employer at all. And after his lawyer told them this, the employer tried to contact my friend on his phone several times trying to get him to call them back.

So that is his situation so far. His court date is upcoming, but it is only for the $300 misdemenor item. The employer still has all the other info to push it into felony range. He wants to avoid jail and will try to get a job so he can pay anything back. What should he prepair himself for?

Honestly if they have info to take this to felony levels they likely would have already. You see by charging him with a fleony the DA has more bargainning power then if its only a misemeanor. I find it odd they are holding back these additional charges. Regardless he has a Lawyer and should be getting his legal advice from him/her. Far as contacting store for payment arrangement he can ask his Lawyer to to do that without violating court order
