I've been on the jobsearch.info mailinglist for a couple of months. Since I signed up for that email list, I've been constantly recieving emails from con-artists emailing me with employment scams, one of which, I almost took the bait until they asked for too much personal information via email, which wasn't until the third or fourth email from the con artist.
I can usually smell scams like this a mile away, but this con artist whom, I have a feeling, got my email as a result of being on the jobsearch.info mailinglist, was so cleaver that I didn't realize it was a scam until he asked for way too much personal info via email with the third or fourth email.
I replied to the last email I got from jobsearch.info asking him for a report listing everyone he's sold my email address to. If the admins at jobsearch.info does not provide me with this information, do I have the right to sue for damages? If so, what's the maximum amount I can request for damages that result in this kind of negligence on the part of jobsearch.info in the state of Maryland? It makes sense that I should be able to sue for damages because if a marketer sells personal information in a sensitive niche where there are tons of con artists floating around, that the marketer who markets to that niche should at least have the common sense to run a background check on anyone who wants to purchase leads from him. It's obvious to me he's not doing that, so it makes sense that jobsearch.info should have to pay damages.
