My husband is on a monitor for a DWI and he had a court date set for the end of October. But the county moved it to next year. At first the lawyer he has was moving it and not saying why and won't tell us what's going on with the case. What should we do? Just go with it or get a better lawyer? We don't even live in the same town or county that it happened in anymore.

If your lawyer isn't updating you, send the lawyer a written letter with proof of sending. Lawyers will react very quickly.

1. State that you've been trying to reach the attorney and provide some dates of when you made your calls and the results, e.g. said he'd call back.

2. State the full and complete issue or issues that you are having and let the attorney know that it is urgent that you receive a response back at this already late date.

Best of luck. Sometimes attorneys are overworked and get behind on catching up on calls. Try this method before doing anything else and give the attorney the chance to respond.
