In the past, a letter was written to my Dr. from the DEA that I had received a prescription from another Dr. and he told me he could no longer see me. The letter came from the DEA and he (the Dr.) called it Dr. shopping. Nothing ever came of it and no charges were ever filed. Now it just happened to a friend of mine and he admits he was in fact doing it with more than one Dr. From the research I've done on the web it appears someone like a Dr. or a pharmacy has to actually tip off the DEA that they suspect a person is doing this and the DEA looks into it then sends out letters to everyone that he has seen, Dr's and pharmacy's, to put a stop to it. I also understand charges can be filed but they usually aren't. Does anyone have any more info about this kind of thing. Any feedback would be appreciated.
