Back in May 2008, there was a flood in our building caused by a broken water pipe from the water-cooled A/C. The pipe is located in the hallway outside of the door of the condo I own. We received water in our unit and consequently the laminate wood flooring we had in two rooms got wet and had to be replaced. We are taking the stance that since the flooding occurred due to a faulty pipe outside of our unit, the condo HOA is reponsible for paying for the flooring. They, of course, state since the flooring is in our condo, they are not reponsible accordin to Florida Statute. The cost to replace the flooring with installation was about $1,500. Shouldn't the Condo be reponsible for damage caused by faulty pipes outside of our unit?
