discontinued programs in college

I just finished by sophmore year at college to find out that they are discontinuing my program 12 credits before i finished. there is no other college in idaho with this program so i am being forced to go out of state for schooling. if the school had told me one semester before that they were cancelling the program i would have been able to finish it. the university is refusing to compensate me in anyway for this inconvenience and tuition at an out-of-state college is 150% more then the current tuition. i am unable to get residency without wasting a year of my life to live in the state but not go to school. i would like someone to tell me if i have any legal recourse and if anything can be done to help.

Unless you have some sort of contract to guarantee performance by the college, I see no legal recourse. A college is like any other business and they probably made a budget decision to cancel the program. You are a most unfortunate bystander.
