Hi, I went to a concert in LA county, I live on Orange County CA. I drove to the concert sober. I had one shot of rum in the parking lot and I snuck one more shooter into the venue that I drank inside the building. I was enjoying myself until I ran into an ex boyfriend who was physicaly abusive and assulted me inside the concert. I went to a bouncer and told him about the incident. He instructed me to wait outside a door, outside the venue in an alley way while he got more bouncers to through out my ex so I could go back inside safely. While I was waiting outside for the bouncer to come back two police officers arrived and arrested me and my friend. He didnt ask us if we had been drinking or read us our rights or even tell us why we were being arrested. We were taken to a local police station and processed. An officer inside the police station asked if we had been drinking we told him we had. I passed the breathalizer 0.000. The officer that gave the brethalizer told us to wait for a while and they would let me go home. About a dozen people came in 1/2 hour later and he said he needed to put us into a holding cell until they were processed. Officer never came back, we were in the cell until 8:30am when they finnaly decided to let us go and tell us why we were arrested and they gave us a ticket for DIP. Is this normal or are the officers at fault. (basically can I get away with this?)

They probably could have been a little more courteous, but under the circumstances I do not think they were at fault. You will have an opportunity to negotiate the ticket to a lesser offense on your court date.

What was the code section you were charged with? I'm not sure where they could come up with public intoxication (drunk in public) if you blew a .000 on a breath test .. unless they assumed you had taken some dope of some kind.

You may or may not ultimately be charged. With a breath test of all zeroes will make prosecution tough unless they can show good cause that your inebriation was due to drugs.
