The executrix of my father's will, my brother's wife, required a "holds harmless" form signed with promise to issue my inheritance once form was notarized. She refused to provide any structured accounting of the samll estate and when I strongly objected she said her attorney would perform the duties of probate for a sum greater than my share of the estate. She claimed that my siblings have no disagreement with her handling of the will and so the legal fees would be my sole responsibility along with a statement that I would not receive my check without signing & notarizing her form. Under the pressure she exerted, I signed her waiver and as of yet (3 weeks later) haven't heard a word about my share of the estate. I don't know if there is any time regulation in N.J. as to disbursement of inheritance checks or if, as I fear, I may have been duped out of the share as designated in my father's will. I have no idea what to door where to turn. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
