Deposit on used truck

I test drove a 2003 Chevy Silverado and noticed a whine coming from the transmission. The truck is in great condition other than that. I left a $300 deposit since it was a sunday and could noy get cash till monday. After several inquiries with mechanics, I was advised to not buy the truck since it could potentially cost a large amount to repair. I'm I entitled to my deposit back or is it the seller's right to keep it?

Getting the deposit back depends on what you signed when you gave the deposit.
If you didn't sign anything, then you might just mss that deposit goodbye.
Never leave a deposit for anything.
Why, because 90% of the time the buyer changes his mind.
The other 8-9% of the time (maybe more), the seller runs away with the spoon.
