What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL, TN

My friend wants to save his marriage... his separated wife is here in Florida. Her personality has changed drastically overnight and she has adopted an unsafe lifestyle. We are afraid for her safety and well-being.

He is down here in FL now and wants to "take her to dinner". Then, instead of stopping for dinner, he wants to drive straight to TN, to get her some psychological help.

Is this illegal? His intentions are honorable and we all are worried for her safety and health and life. She'd, of course, be getting in the car willingly. They are on speaking terms. Based on this particular situation, this feels like a last resort. But, of course, he doesn't want to break the law. Can someone please advise asap?

Thanks.

She may be willing to get in the car but to take and hold her in any location without her consent is kidnapping. Dinner and a a notice of worry and offering help, love and support are often the way to go. Legally if she wants to throw her life away she can.

Ok, thanks for the reply. My friend has decided against doing that for now... we are both going to just continue to try to talk to her and hope we can get her to agree to come willingly and get some professional help.

The best idea is to sit and have a conversation with her and try to convince her that she needs help. Taking someone against their will or taking them someplace without consent might seem harmless (since they are/have been married), but if anything seems like you're breaking the law, its best not to go that route. I have to agree with Sibee! I hope your friends get things taken care of. If she does get too out of control I believe there are special numbers you can call for help if you do a search on Google (Can't think of anything specifically).
