I was renting a room from someone who is renting rooms illegal. I didnt have the deposit. I had to give him personal property as collateral. The house was a dump. Toilet broken , no heat and bed bugs..i moved out..can he keep and sell my personal belongings that i had to give him as collateral?

They'll do a civil standby while you get your junk, unless dude has sold it already to buy his drugs.
