I posted here before for a shoplifting theft I committed in October and was caught for. No police were contacted and the LP said it wouldn't show up on my record if I payed the civil demand. The civil demand came two weeks later and they wanted it within a month but my dad couldn't pay by then. So in late November, they sent one more letter saying they wanted it within 20 days. My dad sent it two days before that deadline (December 8th, 2009) It was not the full 325 dollars they wanted but rather 50 dollars because they gave us the option of 50 dollar monthly installments. Now it's going on two months since I sent that payment on December 8th and I still have not received a civil demand letter with the payment form they give us to send checks via. I'm wondering if this means they dropped it because it was a hassle getting payment from my parents or because there is a forthcoming civil suit plus prosecution ? I would please like your opinion, I know you don't have crystal balls but what is your prediction ? Plus, would a diversion program clear my record by the time I apply for college next November if I were to be prosecuted ? Would they know about my juvenile record ?

I'm sorry for another post but I couldn't find an edit button ?

I remembered another question I had, is there anyway I could personally check to see my juvenile record or see if there was charges in the process of being brought up against me ?

I would be very very surprised if the Civil Recofery service dropped this. In fact they might be raising the amount if you have not paid anymore

I am willing to pay the civil demand but they have stopped sending letters that included this form that my dad used to fill out and send payment to them. Thank you for your input. Are you able to answer any of my other questions ?

First was this form required to pay? If so why did you or your Father not call? If your concerned about charges if you do not pay there is a risk that criminal charges could be filed

I'm not sure if It was required but it had a place to fill out name, phone number, address and the letter they sent out said "please use payment coupon to send payment"

It had a little box to check if you were paying in installments :[ I'm starting to think that we were supposed to automatically send them checks every month. I wish it was more clear on paper. I'll contact them ASAP

Of course you were, otherwise its not a payment plan! Heres your big problem if you have failed to make further payments they can and might have tripled fine or reported this to the credit reporting agencies thus harming your Father's credit. They could have also contacted store to tell them you stopped paying. This could provoke them into filing criminal charges

I realize it's a stupid mistake but my father isn't well spoken in english so I as the one reading these letters. I'm contacting the corp on monday
