Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Civil Demand Letter

I`am 25.I was at this store and they caught me stealing items on there cameras taking of the price tag off with a scissor.I was in a room.I give them the item back.There were 3 items.(total of $35)Give them the scissor.Checked my bag just in case I guess.They got my personal info.Also I`am banned from the store.And now I receive a civil demand letter in the mail for $225.Should I pay them?
Mom says if I pay them this will be over.Is that true?Will they send me to court after this?Will I go to jail?Will this be in my record?PLZ HELP thx

Pay them and everything will be ok... Don't and you will end up in court.

I am a Retail Theft Consultant and answer questions like yours daily. Yes your Mother is likely correct. Your very lucky and should not provoke further action by not paying. Generally it is suggested that you pay the civil demand & that is usually the end of it. If you don't pay, there "could be" additional consequences.

I will pay this weekend.You think thats enough time for them to receive it?
I`am gonna pay them with an money order.(or should I pay by web or phone)
The letter didn`t say how many days till payment.
