We are a very small plumbing company in Minnesota who got fired from a job at a residence and the homeowner has now called the city inspections in to make sure their home is "safe" and hired another company to complete the work. After speaking with the inspector at the city, he is requiring our company to purchase permits for all the fixtures that the other plumbing company will be using to complete the job. My issue is that once we pull the permits for these fixtures, we are liable for any work performed on those fixtures. If we were to do this in any other circumstance, the city could revoke our license. But because the city is the one requiring us to do so, does that make it legal or do we have grounds to complain?

I would complain in writing.

Make your complaints clear and specific.

Keep copies of everything.

Get receipts from the city when you hand deliver the complaints.
