Child suspended for watching a fight at school

Question: In the state of South Carolina, does the school have a right to suspend a child for watching a fight and recording the fight on a digital camera and posting it on you tube? He is suspended pending a Board Hearing.

The Principal is making the situation sound threatening so I'm thinking I may need a lawyer.

If he actually taped the fight and did nothing to stop it, then that is grounds for suspension most likely. Also abuse of the digital camera. As a parent I would absolutely be furious if my child taped a fight and put it on youtube. There has been a few of those lately in the news.
