Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication Caught with a Fake ID

I was recently caught in Iowa for using a fake ID by a police officer. He was in a giving mood and did not arrest me as he could have. As I am not a resident of Iowa, but Illinois, the officer said that my ID would be sent to Illinois. What can happen at that point?

If you were not arrested and you were not given a citation then nothing will happen... at least not from that incident.

I was issued a citation for possessing alcohol under the legal age (by all of 2 weeks unfortunately) but the officer said that since he wasn't going to arrest or ticket me for the ID it would just be sent to Illinois. I asked him what that would entail, but he wasn't able to answer me at all. He really didn't seem to know what would happen once he turned in the ID and it was kind of off-putting.

Illinois might prosecute you, but no one can predict that.
Stay out of additional trouble, and stop using fake identification. As you see, they can lead to trouble.

Your only concern is the citation you received for the alcohol. Everything else is now irrelevant.
