Im looking for some help with my situation. I was caught shoplifting at a store and the amout was around $140. The cops did come and did issue a citation and circled both infraction and misdemeanor. This was the first time caught and they did have video of me taking other stuff which I returned today however they only put down what was taken at the time with the cops. I have already wrote an apology letter to the owner and the two that detained me at the time saying I was sorry and if I could do anything to help to contact me.
Im normaly a very nice guy, I volunteer at my high school and dont break the law except for this. Im going to hire a lawer soon but wanted advice from you guys. What am i looking at? would I be able to have this expunged? What can I do to help?
Well I cant find the edit button, But I did also enroll in the nasp program. My court date is feb 18 so I luckaly have time to try to help show that I am a good citizin
When you talk to your Lawyer ask him/her if Diversion is available in your case. You should also tell him/her about the letter you wrote and if you have a copy show him. That letter could cause problems in your court case.
If it spossible to recover letter without problems yes. The letter is an admission of guilt (not smart before court) Also if you made mention of prior thefts this could also cause you problems. Just be certain to tell Attorney about this letter and if you have a copy show him/her.
Ok I have retrieved the letters. They have only read one of them but no copys were made. I told them that at the present moment it is best not to send out letters. they were nice about it and gave it back.
Ok, Im going to go get some free consultations. I don't know much about this subject so what should I try to get out of them? Besides what are some diversion possibilities and what not. Also is it ok to ask what I may expect to pay for this during it?
