My wife got a call from a debt collector at work. She asked the collector not
to call her there because of her boss and took down the collectors number.
I called the collector and asked what the call was in reference to. The collector was a nasty woman that said my wife was going to be sued. I informed her that we have never had any papers given to us on the matter and right before she hung up on me she said "Oh, you will."
We got a summons delivered to us that weekend.
On the summons is a case number. I typed this number into our city supreme court website and the case comes up but neither our name nor the collectors names are mentioned at all in the courts record.
HELP! What is our next step?
