On May 24th I bought a new 2014 vehicle. I traded in a car that was still being financed for this new vehicle. Today is the June 30th and the previous financing company is calling me to tell me that my account is past due and it will be affecting my credit soon. Now about 2 weeks before this the dealership called my husband to say they sent the check to pay off my trade in but somehow sent it to the wrong address but they were taking care of it and the new check was on it's way to the correct address that day. Again this was 2 weeks ago. I have called the dealership and I have yet to hear back from them. Now this is a well-known dealership so I don't think they would be going out of business. Any advice on what I can do in this situation would be greatly appreciated. It has taken me quite a while to get my credit to where it is now and do not want anything to affect it. Thanks again for any advice you have!

You can pay the note this month and most creditors will return ALL or a portion of the overpayment. Talk to your creditor and seewhat they'll do, if you sent one payment, just in case.

Whatever you decide or can do, forget a legal so.ution, court actions takes months, if not years.

This happens frequently. You should have continued your regular payments until the dealers check was processed and paid the loan in full. The overage would have been returned to you.

This is not the dealers fault.
