Before my father died i had power of attorney and sold three acres of his land. The check didn't arrive until after he died and it was made out to his estate. He left no will. Can I just make an appointment to see a judge and show my birth certificate and his death certificate to be able to collect the money to help pay for his funeral? He was incarcerated for 18 years before his death and that's why I had power of attorney.
