Depends on what you're being investigated for. Have you been charged with anything? If you have pending charges, they are more likely to not take you especially with the cuts in numbers these days. The Army used to take almost anyone during the height of Iraq but they're a bit more stingy these days.

Also if you're a single parent, you cannot join at all unless you sign over custody of your kids to someone else. They don't let single parents join. That's another thing to think about.

Go talk to a recruiter in your area. They are pretty much everywhere.
